Amsterdam, 16 March 2026 – The Dutch server and network community Coloclue will relocate its entire datacenter infrastructure to new locations over the coming months. The move follows changes in the current datacenter housing and provides the association with the opportunity to rebuild its infrastructure in a future-proof way. For the community, this creates a new foundation for experimenting with servers, networks and internet infrastructure.
As part of this migration, the infrastructure will be hosted at NorthC Amsterdam and Leaseweb (in Iron Mountain). This step allows Coloclue to rebuild its network in a logical way while maintaining continuity of its services.
The physical infrastructure – including routers, switches and members’ colocated servers – will be relocated and connected to newly provisioned links. These consist of datacenter interconnects, transit capacity and peering connections that will be delivered in advance, enabling the migration to be carried out in a controlled manner.
The decision on the new locations was made openly within the association. Members were consulted several times throughout the process and involved in evaluating the options. This democratic approach reflects Coloclue’s character as a community organisation. At the same time, those involved hope that a relocation of this scale will not be necessary again in the near future.
Community and professional development
Coloclue is a non-profit association where people with an interest in servers, networks and internet infrastructure can become members and build and manage their own systems in a real datacenter environment. The community therefore acts as a practical learning and experimentation environment for system and network administration.
The association has existed for more than twenty years and has around 250 members, forming an active technical community focused on internet infrastructure and system administration.
Organisations that wish to support the development of this field are welcome to support the association. Their support helps make the technical infrastructure possible and enables an environment where knowledge sharing, experimentation with new technologies and talent development can take place. The association would like to thank the organisations that make this project possible: AMS-IX, Asimo, Fiberring, Fusix, Leaseweb, NL-IX and NorthC.
